How to Download Instagram Reels on PC (Windows & Mac)

Downloading Reels on a computer is the most comfortable way to do it: a big screen, a real keyboard, and files that go exactly where you want them. Any modern browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari — works the same way.

Copy the Reel link from instagram.com in your browser, or from the Instagram app's Share menu. Paste it into a Reels downloader, wait for the preview, and click Download. The MP4 file lands in your Downloads folder, and you can move it to any folder or video editor from there.

Desktop is also the best place to check quality. Right-click a downloaded video, open Properties or Get Info, and you will see its resolution — usually 1080p for a well-uploaded Reel. If you need the video for editing, desktop tools like free editors and converters handle MP4 natively.

If a download opens the video in a new tab instead of saving it, right-click the video and choose Save Video As. That is the standard desktop workaround and it works in every browser.

For bulk work, such as saving several Reels for a mood board or reference folder, desktop wins again: you can queue links one after another without switching apps. Just remember the same respect rule — downloads are for personal use, and creators deserve credit if their work ever appears anywhere public.
